JEE Advanced 2026 Results

The results of the prestigious Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 have been officially announced, with more than 56,000 candidates qualifying for admission into India’s premier engineering institutions, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Among the standout performers, Shubham Kumar from the IIT Delhi zone secured All India Rank (AIR) 1, emerging as the national topper with an impressive score of 330 out of 360 marks.

The result declaration marks a major milestone for lakhs of engineering aspirants across the country who have spent years preparing for one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations.

Shubham Kumar Tops the Nation

Shubham Kumar delivered an exceptional performance by securing the top position in the Common Rank List (CRL). The IIT Delhi zone dominated the top ranks this year, with Kabeer Chhillar securing AIR 2 with 329 marks and Jatin Chahar claiming AIR 3 with 319 marks.

Speaking after the results, Shubham expressed happiness over achieving the top rank, stating that his consistent preparation over the last two years helped him reach the milestone.

Over 56,000 Candidates Qualify

According to official data released by IIT Roorkee, which conducted JEE Advanced 2026, a total of 56,880 candidates qualified the examination out of 1,79,694 candidates who appeared for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Key statistics include:

  • Registered candidates: 1,87,389
  • Appeared in both papers: 1,79,694
  • Qualified candidates: 56,880
  • Female candidates who qualified: 10,107

The figures highlight the intense competition associated with the examination, which remains the primary gateway to IIT admissions.

Arohi Deshpande Tops Among Female Candidates

Among female candidates, Arohi Deshpande from the IIT Delhi zone emerged as the highest-ranked candidate with a Common Rank List position of 77. She scored 280 out of 360 marks, making her the top-performing female aspirant this year.

Her achievement has been widely praised and reflects the growing participation and success of female students in highly competitive engineering entrance examinations.

IIT Delhi Zone Dominates Rankings

One of the biggest highlights of this year’s results was the exceptional performance of candidates from the IIT Delhi zone.

The zone secured:

  • AIR 1 – Shubham Kumar
  • AIR 2 – Kabeer Chhillar
  • AIR 3 – Jatin Chahar

This remarkable showing has drawn attention to the strong academic performance of students from the region.

What Happens Next?

With the results now declared, qualified candidates will move on to the next stage of the admission process through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process. Candidates will be able to select their preferred IITs, branches, and participating institutions based on their ranks and seat availability.

Students interested in IIT B.Arch programmes can also apply for the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) as part of the admission process.

Why JEE Advanced Matters

JEE Advanced is widely regarded as one of India’s toughest entrance examinations and serves as the gateway to undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs. Every year, only a fraction of students who clear JEE Main qualify for JEE Advanced and eventually secure seats in the country’s top engineering institutions.

Admission to prestigious branches such as Computer Science Engineering at leading IITs often requires extremely high ranks, making competition exceptionally intense.
